Accessibility statement.

Last reviewed July 28, 2026

The Group is a group planning service, and a plan that only some of your people can reach is not much of a plan. We want everyone in a group to be able to use this, whatever they use to get here: a screen reader, keyboard only, voice control, magnification, or a phone held one-handed on a bus.

1. The standard we build to

We target WCAG 2.2 Level AA, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines published by the W3C. That covers the website at checkthegroup.com, the web app, and the iOS, Android, Mac and Windows apps built from the same code.

2. Where we actually stand

Partially conformant. Most of the product meets WCAG 2.2 Level AA, and some parts do not yet. We would rather say that plainly than claim a clean bill of health we have not earned. Known issues we are working through include screen reader labelling in a few older areas of the signed-in app, keyboard focus order in some dialogs, and colour contrast on a small number of secondary controls. We fix these on a rolling basis, and accessibility defects are treated as ordinary bugs rather than a separate backlog nobody reaches.

Some content is outside our control. Maps, payment pages hosted by Stripe, and media that group members upload themselves may not meet the same standard. Where we can choose an accessible provider or add our own text alternative, we do.

3. What we have built in

Every page can be operated by keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator and a skip link that jumps past navigation. Form fields carry visible labels that stay put once you start typing. Motion respects your operating system's reduce-motion setting. Text reflows down to a narrow phone and scales up without breaking the layout. The app ships in eleven languages, including right-to-left ones.

4. Telling us about a problem

If any part of The Group blocks you, or is simply harder to use than it should be, email info@checkthegroup.com. It helps if you can tell us the page or screen, what you were trying to do, and what you use to browse (for example VoiceOver on iPhone, or NVDA with Firefox). A screenshot or a short description of what happened is plenty; you do not need to know the technical name for anything.

5. What we will do about it

We aim to acknowledge every accessibility report within 5 business days, and to tell you at that point either that it is fixed, or when we expect to fix it. If something blocks you from doing a thing the product is for, we will look for a way to get you unblocked while the underlying fix is in progress. If you are not satisfied with our response, say so in reply and it will be escalated rather than closed.

6. How this statement is maintained

This statement was last reviewed on July 28, 2026 and is based on our own testing: automated checks in our build, plus manual keyboard and screen reader passes over the public pages and the main planning flows. We review it at least once a year and whenever we ship a significant change. Questions about it go to the same address: info@checkthegroup.com.
